BUFFALO PEAKS- Estimated dates in May or June
The purpose of this project is to restore several miles of the Middle Fork of the South Platte River upstream from the Tomahawk State Wildlife Area (SWA).
SOUTH PLATTE RIVER TRASH PICK UP (AND BBQ) - Sunday June 22nd (new date)
Pick up trash along the South Platte River near Deckers with CUSP. After a few hours of trash collecting meet at Deckers for a BBQ with CUSP.
TRAIL CREEK FIRE RESTORATION - DATES NOT FIXED YET July 16 or 17 (Wednesday or Thursday), 2nd Work date Saturday, August 23
This will require a walk of a mile or more to get to work site. This is a Hayman fire restoration project with CUSP (Coalition for the Upper South Platte). Since the Hayman fire, Trail Creek, near the community of Westcreek has dumped huge amounts of sediment into O.J. Hill Reservoir and eventually into the South Platte River through Horse Creek. This project is designed to minimize long term erosion and sedimentation in the Trail Creek Basin. Volunteer opportunities include planting native grasses, trees and shrubs.
CLEAR CREEK TRASH PICK UP DAY - Sept 13th
Annual Clear Creek trash clean up day with West Denver and Cherry Creek Chapters. Planned for the fall and headquartering out of Idaho Springs this is big event with drawings for prizes and a BBQ after the trash collection. Ray Carney agreed to continue organizing this event. More information will be provided inSeptember.
